BOYER VALLEY COMMUNITY SCHOOLS BOARD OF DIRECTORS – SPECIAL MEETING – MARCH 15, 2022 5:30 P.M. – BOYER VALLEY SOUTH – BOARDROOM CALL TO ORDER: President Steve Puck called a special meeting of the Boyer Valley Board of Education to order at 5:38 p.m. Members answering roll call were Paul Cogdill, Ben Hansen, Elizabeth Heistand, Craig Malone, Jen Miller, Steve Puck and Candace Ueding. Also present was Secretary Terra Sell and Paul Tedesco, EdWise LLC. President Puck declared quorum present. Secretary Sell read the mission statement. APPROVAL OF THE AGENDA: Motion by Miller, second by Heistand to approve the agenda as published. Motion carried 7-0. CLOSED SESSION: Motion was made by Hansen, second by Ueding to enter into closed session pursuant to Iowa Code 21.5(1)(i) of the open meetings law to evaluate the professional competency of an individual whose appointment, hiring, performance, or discharge is being considered when necessary to prevent needless and irreparable injury to that individual’s reputation and that individual has verbally requested a closed session at 5:39 p.m. Ayes: Hansen, Ueding, Miller, Heistand, Cogdill, Malone and Puck. RETURN TO OPEN SESSION: At 6:44 p.m. a motion by Cogdill, second by Hansen to return to open session. Ayes: Cogdill, Hansen, Miller, Heistand, Malone, Puck and Ueding EXEMPT SESSION: Motion by Hansen, second by Miller to enter into an exempt session pursuant to Iowa Code 8.3(4) to allow a governmental body to formulate its position on the terms and conditions of employment for non-union employees in private at 7:54 p.m. Ayes: Hansen, Miller, Cogdill, Heistand, Malone, Puck and Ueding RETURN TO OPEN SESSION: At 9:42 p.m. a motion by Heistand, second by Ueding to return to open session. Ayes: Heistand, Ueding, Cogdill, Hansen, Malone, Miller and Puck A motion by Cogdill, second by Hansen to adjourn the meeting. Motion carried 7-0.
