Wanda R. Martin, 74

Wanda Ruth Martin, 74, died on Sunday, Nov. 27, 2022, at Mercy Hospital in Council Bluffs. She was born on May 1, 1948, in Dunlap to Glen and Evelyn (Frazier) Culver. She graduated from Dunlap High School. Wanda went on to nursing school at Iowa Western where she earned her LPN. She worked for many years at the Crawford County Memorial Hospital in Denison and at Alegent Health Memorial Hospital in Missouri Valley. Wanda was married to Jim Martin.

Wanda was a member of the Dunlap United Methodist Church. She enjoyed fishing and camping. Wanda also liked watching daytime TV, especially The Young and The Restless. Wanda was also a long-time member of Dunlap Fire and Rescue.

Wanda was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her significant other, Tim LaMaak of Lakeview; sons, Terry Culver and his wife Gina of Georgetown, Ky., Kelly Culver and his wife Joy of Gering, Neb., Glen Martin and his wife Shaunda of Manila, Jeff Martin of Turin and Tommy Martin and his wife Trisia of Odebolt; 16 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; brother, Wayne Culver of Turin; sister, Cynthia and her husband Vince Wheeler of Dunlap; and many other relatives and friends.

A memorial service was held on Thursday, Dec. 1, 2022, at United Methodist Church in Dunlap. Pastor Aaron Terwilleger presided over the service. The recorded musical selections were “Go Rest High on That Mountain” by Vince Gill and “Lay Me Down” by Loretta Lynn and Willie Nelson. The honorary pallbearers were Joshua Culver, Skyler Culver, Adyn Culver, Haven Reese, Noah Martin, Taylor Cook, Alex Clark and Gabe Clifton. Wanda’s final resting place is at the Manteno Cemetery.
