Trevor John Collison, the 32-year-old Little Sioux man who was recently detained in Indonesia and faces federal charges of alleged sexual exploitation of a child and alleged possession of child pornography, was taken into custody by the U.S. Marshals last Tuesday.
Collison was arrested in Indonesia on Dec. 30, 2024, where he was held until Indonesian authorities returned him to U.S. custody. Collison was arrested while attempting to extend his visa, as his passport had been revoked by U.S. authorities.
According to the U.S. Marshals Office of Public Affairs, an arrest warrant was issued in the Southern District of Iowa in October of last year. When authorities arrived at his residence to carry out the arrest, Collison was not there.
Previous reporting from the Dunlap Reporter found that three search warrants had been executed back in August: one on Aug. 2, 2024, for the search of a white camper, and two on Aug. 13, 2024, for the search of 1337 Larpenteur Memorial Road and 95 Mulberry St., both in Little Sioux.
An indictment from the Southern District of Iowa alleges that there are five victims, all under the age of 12. Collison's laptop was seized by Harrison County investigators in August.
Marshals tracked Collison's movements across several South Pacific countries, including Singapore and Malaysia, before he was located in Indonesia. According to Yuldi Yusman, the director of immigration supervision and enforcement in Indonesia, Collison entered Indonesian territory on Dec. 4, 2024.
He will appear before a Federal Magistrate on the outstanding federal warrant.
“The U.S. Marshals are dedicated to supporting our state and local partners throughout Iowa in tracking down individuals who evade justice,” Ted Kamatchus, U.S. Marshal for the Southern District of Iowa, said. “By leveraging its global reach, the U.S. Marshals Service empowers our local law enforcement partners with the ability to locate and apprehend even their most elusive fugitives.”
