The Boyer Valley PTO will be hosting a trivia night this Saturday at the 4 County Fair Building.

Doors will open at 5 p.m., and trivia will begin at 6:30 p.m. Along with trivia, there will be a silent auction and a first, second and third place cash prize for best team theme (costumes, table décor, etc.).

Teams can max out at six people, and teams are responsible for bringing their own drinks and snacks.

“It is a 21-and-older event,” Ashley Donscheski, who handles fundraising for the PTO, said. “(Bring your own beer) and snacks for the night, as we don't provide any food or drinks. People are welcome to bring any beverage of their choice.”

Since the Boyer Valley PTO got up and running last spring, it has funded numerous projects, such as a back-to-school meal for teachers, a back-to-school meal at the elementary's open house night, funding for feminine products in the high school's girls restrooms, a hat and glove drive that was split between both Boyer Valley schools, funding for Crawford County conservationists to visit the elementary every other month, funding for the high school and elementary to use on a guest speaker, providing snacks and drinks for the middle school dance, food and drinks for parent-teacher conferences and a welcome pack for new families to the district, which includes gift cards to business in Dunlap and Dow City, a Boyer Valley shirt from Graphix by Amy and resourceful information about the town.

In short, the PTO has a lot going on, and the trivia night is a good way to support this work.

“We would like to only have to do one big fundraiser a year,” Donscheski said. “We're hopeful that the trivia night can be an annual fundraiser and make it so that we're not constantly asking for more.”

One key thing the trivia night funds is Teacher Appreciation Week at both Boyer Valley schools.

As of Monday afternoon, Donscheski said they currently have six teams registered for the event. Ideally, those numbers would be higher, and those interested can text or call 712-269-5696 to register their team.

For silent auction donations, Kim Muller can be contacted at 712-269-8259.

Trivia will include 10 categories with 10 questions each, and one of those categories is Boyer Valley trivia.

“It's a lot of fun, especially if you're a Boyer Valley alum,” Donscheski said.
