Lois Marlene Thompson, daughter of Ralph and Dorothy (Pryor) Hein was born on March 24, 1944, at her parent’s century farm near Dunlap. This farm held a special place in her heart. Marlene graduated from Dunlap High School in 1962. She then went to work for the Northwestern Bell Telephone Company in Omaha, Nebraska. Marlene had several major health issues in her lifetime but she was always a hard worker. In February of 1965, she married Chuck Hutchins, Sr. and to this union one son Chuck Hutchins, Jr. was born. The couple lived in Woodbine for many years and Marlene managed the Piccadilly Pizza in Woodbine for a number of years. She later moved to Omaha and worked at the Nebraska Furniture Mart. While working there she met her future husband, John. Marlene and John Thompson were married in September of 1989.

Marlene was a lifetime member of the Dunlap First United Methodist Church. She was baptized there as a baby. Marlene loved to work, loved flower gardens, to watch birds and collect nice items for their home. She loved to watch the home remodeling shows on the television.

Marlene died on Monday, July 12, 2021, at her home in Omaha with her husband John by her side, at the age of 77 years, three months and 18 days.

Marlene was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Chuck Hutchins on June 29, 2021; and an infant niece, Robin Hein. She is survived by her husband, John Thompson of Omaha; four siblings, Robert Hein and his wife Liz of Avoca, Joanne and her husband Lowell “ Jim” Siglin of Stark City, Mo., Kenneth Hein and Myrlen Hein and his wife Susan all of Dunlap; two brothers-in-law, Greg Thompson and his wife Sandy and Tom Thompson; two sisters-in-law, Susan Fletcher and Roxanne and her husband Doyle Deleat; special lifelong friend, Barb Hanny of Omaha; and nieces, nephews and friends.

Memorial service for Marlene and her son Chuck Hutchins at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 31, at the Fouts Funeral Home in Dunlap.  Visitation will be one hour before the service. Officiating will be Aaron Terwilleger.
