Kevin King Kibby, 71, died on Saturday, Nov. 14, 2020, at St. Joseph Regional Hospital in Bryan, Texas. He was born on Feb. 19, 1949, to Cless and Zoe (Fish) Kibby in Harlan. He grew up in Dunlap and graduated from Dunlap High School in 1968. Kevin was baptized on Mar. 29, 1959, at the Dunlap Congregational Church. He moved to Council Bluffs after graduation and worked at Vickers Hydraulic Plant in Omaha, Neb. He took some electrician and air conditioning schooling and then started working for Ferrell Gas delivering propane to homes in Council Bluffs and Omaha. He then moved to Colorado in the 80’s living in Conifer and Greeley. He continued to deliver propane for Ferrell Gas. Kevin took a year off trucking from 1990 to 1991 and spent it in the Central American city of Belize with two other friends with a dream of starting up a resort, which did not materialize. He came back to the states and his older brother, Lonnie, gave him trucking lessons so he could truck long distance. He started with Double S Trucking out of Avoca; moved on to Navajo Trucking out of Denver, Colo., and ended up trucking with Crete Carrier Corporation in Lincoln, Neb. for 25 years. Kevin received a “1 million career miles” award for his miles logged and his commitment to safety and service driving for Crete. He finally retired in 2016, sold his acreage in Missouri, bought a fifth wheel and traveled to Texas to live close to his brother Kelly and enjoy the warmer weather. Kevin loved to play golf, hunt, fish, ride his motorcycle and spend time with family and friends. He especially enjoyed time with his classmates whenever they could get together for a reunion.

Kevin was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Kyla; brother, Lonnie Whelan; and brother-in-law, Les Soma. He is survived by his sister, Keva Soma of Dunlap; brother, Kelly Kibby and his wife Rosalee of Rockdale, Texas; and many other relatives and friends.

On behalf of the Kibby family, we would like to express our deepest thanks to everyone’s outpouring of support, generosity, thoughts and prayers at this very difficult time for our family. May God bless all of you.
