The Council Bluffs man charged with first-degree murder in the disappearance of Barbara Lenz, of Woodbine, in 1989 is pleading not guilty.

Robert Allen Davis, 61, appeared at an arraignment hearing Monday morning where a plea of not guilty and waiver of speedy trial was submitted.

Davis was Lenz's boyfriend at the time of her disappearance. She was last seen May 6, 1989, when she was 31 years old.

Davis was arrested on March 10 after being charged with first-degree murder. A criminal complaint filed against him alleges numerous instances of abuse, including assault and strangulation of Lenz over the course of their relationship.
